In the concealer / foundation combo, which comes first? Judging from Twitter, that question elicits more die-hard opinions than anything else, even The Voice. (We’re Team Sasha, by the way…)
So we asked our beauty guru, Clarins makeup artist Jean Fayard, what she prefers.
Her verdict: “Foundation first, then concealer.”
Why? Because your face should have a smooth and even foundation, and if you apply concealer beforehand, you run the risk of smearing it beyond its area of coverage (and changing the color and texture of both products). By layering concealer or highlight on top of foundation, the look stays consistent–and stays put.
One exception: If your concealer is for skin texture instead of skin color. Those using Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch can layer that product under foundation–or even mix the two products together for lighter coverage.
